Today in our 40 Days for Life Scripture we are reminded that life is precious and that God is the Creator of all life. “Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:9-10

Today as we stood in the gap, we heard various excuses from the abortion-bound mothers of why these babies had to die. Many just didn’t want to be inconvenienced or burdened with a child or another one. It’s chilling to hear the icy words and distaste of motherhood coming from their mouths. They can kill their baby as easily as they swat a fly and not even flinch. We do have compassion and empathy for some of the hard cases that care to share their stories, but just like in the story of Job in the Bible, he lived a life no one wanted full of trials and tribulations. He endured sickness, ridicule and judgment from even his friends, but Job never gave up because of his circumstances. He kept the faith. He relied on the Lord. He knew that the “hand of the Lord made all life” and that life has meaning and purpose regardless of the circumstances.

In today’s present culture we have lost that basic truth. Unfortunately, men and women have become their own gods. They determine who gets to live and who gets to die. This is what we dealt with today. Almost every woman we tried counseling refused any recognition that the baby in their womb had a purpose and a destiny. We knew there were a lot of covenant babies being killed as we noticed the Christian emblems on the cars of the clients. It is a smack in God’s face. It is time for society to realize that we only exist because of God’s grace and it is time to turn back to Him; to honor His Word and teachings.

It looked discouraging to view so many mothers declining the truth and offers of real help and hope. We kept interceding and praying. We kept the faith and God delivered. A mother and daughter came back out, confirmed they were keeping their baby, and drove off the lot. Praise God! BAM! A young girl from Illinois came inside our ultrasound van and viewed a picture of her 6 week old baby auditioning for its life on the screen. We went over physician follow-up and resources. Late appointments kept trickling in this winter day. We didn’t give up. We dug our heels in deeper and kept praying and trying. We had faith. We closed in prayer

Let our prayer be: “Thank you Father for being the Creator of my life and every life. Please give me and the society in which I live an appreciation for Your gift of life. In Jesus’ Name we pray.”
