Granite City , IL Report

3/10/2010

In today’s 40 Days for Life intention we pray for fathers who have participated in the decision to abort their child, and for those fathers who did not have a voice; that they would find freedom and healing through Jesus Christ.

Today as we set up our pregnancy outreach to the abortion-bound mothers, we noticed a lot of the women going inside were not being accompanied by men, but by women. Many f.o.b.’s are considered “slackers” in society, and women unfortunately are left with the full responsibility of rearing and raising their children. You can understand their frustration. They unfortunately are lost and turn to abortion as their only recourse. But then again, there are the few men who feel like they have no choice in the matter; or are “whipped” into submission by the mothers of their babies, only to be an accomplice in the murder of their innocent children.

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute (the research foundation for Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry), one third of American women will have undergone an abortion by age 45. A significant number of men have played a role in terminating a pregnancy. Only in recent years have we realized that men suffer from abortion too. That is why it is so important to have men speaking to men from a Biblical point of view. Intervention at the appropriate time in the decision process may spare both the man and woman from the life-long pain and trauma of abortion.

We spoke softly to many abortion-bound mothers entering these gates; many declined our offers to spare them a lifetime worth of emotional pain and suffering. One woman came over and accepted our help. She confirmed that she came to abort, but had changed her mind. She had already paid half of the fee and wanted her money back. We informed her of her legal rights and prayed with her before she attempted to go back inside to get her money back. She also confirmed she had tried to kill her baby last week, but the abortionist never showed up; so many of the clients rescheduled or walked out in disgust. Praise God! She thanked us for all our help and promised to keep in touch and follow up with us.

Another save came over to the van for an ultrasound where she was able to view her approx 24 week old baby girl. And yet another save from months past was on her way to her physician appointment and stopped by to ask for prayers and a safe delivery.

We noticed yet another fish pin on a Kentucky client’s car. Another covenant late-term baby was inside this slaughterhouse being butchered. God help us! That is why the church must speak on the sin of abortion. There are too many men and women sitting in the pews suffering in silence and repeating the cycle of murder in the womb because no one is addressing the issue from the pulpit, except for maybe one Sunday out of the year.

Heavenly Father, we pray for young men who have participated in the termination of their child and are broken as You are over their loss. Forgive their sin, Lord, and bring opportunity for healing and renewal of their minds in Christ Jesus. For those suffering from an abortion they did not choose, restore their joy as they learn to forgive others and trust You with their future. In the name of Christ, who heals the brokenhearted, Amen.”
