Granite City , IL Report

3/18/2011- DAY 10

In our 40 Days for Life intention, we pray that those who hold life as trivial will realize that we live because God wills it so. It’s kinda’ like that saying: “Isn’t it kind of hypocritical to be pro-choice after you have already been born?” God makes life, and only God can take life.

Today, the abortion mill was making up for lost time as yesterday’s revenue was cut short due to the St. Pat’s holiday; they were closed. The safest place for an unborn baby in their mother’s womb was in Granite City yesterday. Today, they were running inside to rid themselves of their precious babies. If only they realized how unique and special their baby is. A blessing God calls them, and so do we. Scripture tells us, “Who among us does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this, in His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind.” Job 12:9-10. Job was a man acquainted well with grief, tribulations, and trials. He had everything taken from him, including his family. He endured sickness, ridicule, and judgment from his friends. Job’s circumstances were bad, but he never lost his faith. He knew that the hand of the Lord has made all life. All life has meaning and purpose regardless of the circumstances.

In our present culture we have lost the basic truth: every life is made and allowed to live by God’s sovereign authority. Psalms 139. We were knit together in our mother’s womb and until we take our last breath, God’s word is clear that in His hand is the life of every creature and the breath of all mankind. It is time for us in society to recognize that we exist by God’s grace, and we must turn back to Him, honoring His teachings and His word. Our world is full of “Jobs,” dealing with trials, tribulations, and hurting, but Job’s response should be ours as well. He never lost faith, and neither should we no matter what we face.

Many of the mothers we witnessed today would rather believe a lie than know the truth. Many thought only of their comfort rather than trusting in the Lord to get them through, but we kept praying and offering them another way. Praise God, one abortion-minded mother came back out and confirmed she was keeping her baby as she left with her mother. It made our day!

“Thank You Father for being the Creator of all life. Please give me and the society in which I live a deep appreciation for Your gift of life. Please help us to set aside our pride and acknowledge that we need You. Show me how I can honor You today in response to all the blessings You bestow freely. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
