Granite City , IL Report

4/15/2011- DAY 38

In our 40 Days for Life intention we pray that we become vessels of hope to all around us, especially in the pro-life movement. The morning began with thunderstorms, but we enjoyed a brief clearing time as a cold front regrouped with threatening skies looming. It gave us enough time to minister to the abortion-minded mothers entering the abortion mill today. Most cars were again from Missouri where abortion restrictions are in place and enforced; to the contrary here in Illinois . For some of the abortion-minded mothers it was Day 1 of their late-term abortions.

To a lot of people, our stand and the blessing of our ultrasound van gives hope. The encouraging reports or actual witness of lives being saved and hearts changed is a testimony to many who have no faith or question if being outside centers where children are scheduled to die really works. It is a fact to the abortion-minded that coming inside the ultrasound van, viewing their unborn child, and obtaining assistance with their unplanned pregnancies gave them real hope, unlike the title on the abortion mill building: “Hope.” The only thing abortion gives women is suction or scissors, an empty brown bag, and a lifetime of sadness, emptiness, and regrets. Christ died on Friday, but He gave us hope and He rose on Sunday. We are called to proclaim, celebrate, and serve that victory waiting in joyful hope for Christ’s return and the full flowering of the culture of LIFE because Sunday is coming.

Christa, Gigi, Wayne, and Stan joined us this day and stood in hope to see lives changed. God answered our prayers and efforts. A mother and daughter from Nashville , Illinois came back out and confirmed they were keeping their baby. They accepted our literature as they got into their car. Another couple from St. Charles , Missouri came back out and confirmed to Daniel they changed their mind on the abortion and were keeping their 7 week old baby. Praise God! We may never know how many babies were saved because people stood and cared, but until the Lord returns we will stand and continue giving women and others real HOPE.

Lord, fill Your people with new hope. Make us vessels of hope to all around us, especially to those who minister in the pro-life movement, that as we engage in the difficult work ahead, we may experience the peace and joy that come only from You and that nobody can take away from us. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
