Granite City , IL Report

4/16/2011- DAY 39

In our 40 Days for Life intention we pray that prayer volunteers will replace exhaustion or discouragement with rejoicing over the many miracles we have seen thus far and enthusiastic service as God takes us on to victory. In dismal, cold and wet weather we quickly set up our pregnancy van outreach to the two abortion-minded cars that were sitting on the parking lot waiting to go back inside. Yes, the weather was discouraging and then the winds picked up which made it futile to try and hold onto an umbrella and keep our literature dry. But, somehow we managed.

The Eden Theological seminarianettes and pro-choice supporters held their ho-made placards in front of the entrance to the abortion mill out of the wind and rain. What started as a miserable day ended up being a miraculous day! There were no hindrances. We were able to concentrate on our goal. Daniel and I were really getting a workout as we tried to intercept each car or woman running inside from the rainy weather.

The seminarians showed up and had a surprise for us. They gathered around the ultrasound van and presented our ministry with a very generous donation to continue our vital work for the babies and their mothers. We didn’t see this coming but we were so grateful and hugged each one as they went onto the sidewalk to pray. We are blessed by their commitment and faithfulness for the unborn. We will miss them over summer break, but look forward to their return in fall. With all the trials, tribulations, and exhaustion lately, we look forward to the road of victory; even in today’s trying weather we still have real HOPE, as God was about to reveal.

WE DID IT! WE DID IT! Really GOD did it! We hit the 40th baby saved during the 40 Days for Life Spring campaign in Granite City , Illinois today. Four precious babies were spared and confirmed saves via sidewalk counselors. “Melanie” was 5 weeks pregnant and commented with the father of the baby to Angela, “It’s our first child. We are Christians; we go to church and we know this is wrong. Thank you for reminding us!” They were quite open to us as we walked them to their car where they declined breakfast money but accepted our prayers.

“Brandy” and her friend came back out and met us in alley crying as she confirmed she was 12 weeks pregnant and didn’t go through with the abortion. The driver accepted our literature and told us they would contact our ministry as they would be needing help.

“Maria” rolled her window down and confirmed to sidewalk counselor Daniel that she was convicted at the sight of people praying. She decided to keep her 9 week old baby and came out to the pro-lifers for assistance.

Another couple from Missouri came out and we caught them as they were pulling off the parking lot where they waved. They confirmed that they kept their baby as they took our brochure and thanked us before driving off.

We will continue to stand, pray, and be an outreach to abortion-minded mothers over the summer months and are looking forward to the next campaign. In closing, this has been our most successful campaign as far as getting churches and people involved. Community awareness has really increased. So, too, the commitment for standing for life from prayer warriors. Just look at what God can do when His people show up!

“Heavenly Father, we continue to sing a new song for You have done marvelous things. Forgive us when we allow circumstances to defeat us. Isaiah 40:29 ‘You give power to the faint and You increase strength in those who have no might.’ We rest in You dear Lord, and ask You to empower us for Your service as You work through us. May You receive glory through our victories. In Jesus’ name we pray.”
            Be encouraged~ Angela
