II
Chronicles 7:14 “If My people, who are called by My name,
will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn
from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and
will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
Angela began with a short introduction and then spoke
to the group about how to overcome abortion. This was mostly
a women’s retreat and prayer conference with daily
workshops.
“Who is
most responsible for abortion in our nation today? You and
me.” Angela gave the scripture Proverb
24:11-12 and said, “We
are rescuers!” She then gave a couple of analogies.
“Being the
mother of a large family, my worst fear is of our house to
catch fire in the middle of the night. Would I be able to
get all of our children out safely?”
“Can you
imagine that you are sleeping and in the middle of the night
you hear voices crying, ‘Help
me!’ You look out your window and you see your
neighbor’s house on fire. Flames are shooting out the
window and you hear tiny voices pleading, ‘Help
me! Please save me!’ What do you do? Do you stand by
and say, ‘Well, the
house is on fire, kids are burning, but I’ll pray for
you.’ Or, ‘I’ll
put an extra $10 in the offering for you.’
“You’re out in the backyard trimming your
rosebushes and you hear a splash. Next thing you hear is
someone screaming, ‘My
child fell into the pool! I can’t swim. Someone help me,
my baby is drowning!’ What do you do? Do you hand them
a package of diapers? Do you say, ‘Well,
I’ll pray for you,’? Do you tell the mother, ‘We’ll
have a bible study for you,’ or ‘We’ll
form a committee and get back to you’?
“No, you would run towards that burning house,
break down the door, and get the kids out! You would jump
over the fence and into the pool and save that child’s
life! That is what a rescuer does.”
How one perceives the battle is how one will fight
it. Education:
It isn’t about education. Education
cannot free us from sin. Economy:
It isn’t about finances. Economics cannot buy us out of
sin. Politics:
It isn’t about politics. Politics cannot free us from sin.
Compassion: It
isn’t about compassion. Compassion cannot love us out of
sin. The Gospel:
If you perceive abortion to be a Gospel issue than you begin
by calling out the
Church
of
Jesus Christ
to repent. Abortion will come to an end in
America
when the Church of Jesus Christ makes up her mind it will
come to an end and not one second sooner.
Angela
invited them to come to the abortion mill and stand in the
gap for the babies. “You
don’t have to hold a sign or do anything, just make
yourself available so God can use you. Just your presence
may touch a mother’s heart and save a life.” She
gave many statistics and information about abortion and
explained our vital ministry in front of Hope Clinic with
our ultrasound van outreach to abortion-minded mothers. Over
90% of women walking inside a pregnancy center are keeping
their babies, “But
every mother walking inside an abortion mill is there to
kill.” Hearts were touched when she shared baby
Hannah’s testimony of being saved from this notorious mill
and how God worked miracles throughout Hannah’s adoption.
The group asked Angela questions and it was a good
discussion. The group brought up the fact that our youth are
so violent and angry. Angela said, “When
you kill the most innocent and defenseless in society, it
cheapens life. When we allow mothers to put a price tag on
life, no one is safe. When a mother can kill her own child,
how can we expect others not to kill? Look at the many
recent school shootings.” The others agreed. One woman
broke down crying and the others gathered around her and
prayed. “When you
sow bloodshed in the womb, you will reap it in the street
and this is just the tip of the iceberg.”
We gathered for a closing prayer, exchanged contact
information, and directed the participants to the Small
Victories literature and information table.
The group appreciated the talk and this frontlines
ministry. They promised to keep in mind prayer time for the
workers in the field, especially high killing times daily,
and you could tell that hearts were touched. Thank you Lord
for this awesome opportunity to sow good seed.
Courage is
not the lack of fear but the courage to go out and fight in
spite of your fear.
