This should have been the headline in the morning paper after Tuesday afternoon’s massacre inside the local abortion mill which was witnessed only by our faithful ministry and a couple of homeless beggars. Absolutely stunning: 42 people were cut down, slaughtered in one afternoon/evening and seemingly no one cared or noticed or even heard their tiny cries. People came from as far as Kentucky, Mississippi, and Indiana, but again, most were from Missouri and there were a few from Illinois. Granite City, Illinois is now known for its late-term baby killing and dumping mill rather than its currently idling steel mill which used to draw families from all 50 states.  Now, it draws families for its late-term abortion mill, Hope Clinic for Women Ltd.

It appeared that those standing in line couldn’t have cared less about what they were about to do to an innocent victim. Many hung out and carried on rather jovial conversations as if they were meeting at a social function. They seemed insulted at our gentle offerings to help them to bring life into the world, or to help them out of their situation with a loving choice: adoption. One black male accomplice grabbed his crotch area and behaved very vulgarly telling us he wanted a “blow job” several times as we offered to help the female he accompanied. In all, 42 little people went through those purple “paint peeling off” doors of this slaughterhouse for what, we informed them, would be a very long night.

There was no fear or hesitation as we were cussed out and treated like WE were the weird ones for even being there trying to do good and overcome what is evil; to try and help women and keep their babies from being tortured for hours and eventually murdered. We have not witnessed this amount of carnage for some time now. What used to be the norm of double-digit homicides has, in recent years, gone down; on some days to less than 10. Today was quite the shocker. What’s worse is that we just celebrated Christmas, Jesus’ birthday. The first gift to the world, as I shared with almost all the mothers standing in line to kill their babies, was a baby. His name was Jesus. They couldn’t have cared less as some smoked, some ate Cheetos, some played on their phones, all while we futilely tried to save their babies. ONE woman stepped out of line before the rest all went inside. This mother walked across the parking lot letting us know she was “going home.” She declined any assistance or a free ultrasound, got in her car, and drove off. “Thank you Lord,” I whispered.

It was a sign of hope in a dark and evil portion of our afternoon and evening as we stood in the cold trying to stay warm. Meanwhile, life was going on just across the street where an ambulance or two would arrive and park looking over at us; or hospital employees would glance over while on yet another smoke break as if this amount of people about to murder other little people was the norm. “Apathy; drunk in apathy,” was all I thought. Philippians 3:18-19 came to mind. “For as often as I have told you before and now say again even with tears, many live as enemies of the cross of Christ. Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomachs, and their glory is in their shame.”

My mind wants to quit, but my heart won’t let me. I came home to quite the pandemic. A backyard that had the in-ground pool we had always dreamed of after three saturated days of rain, and a house turned into an infirmary of  “pink eyed” patients. Germs and plagues, they really love the Michaels. But, somehow after a hot cup of apple cider, our energy level rose and we sustained ourselves to keep going forth. God has called and chosen me for such a time as this. We, as I gently warned the abortion-bound mothers and their accomplices, will one day have to stand before God and give an accounting. What will we say?

This time of year we have been inundated with mailings from so called “pro-life organizations” begging for those “end of year” financial donations so they can keep “rescuing” babies from abortion or “save lives.”  It’s really hard to believe any so-called “rescuing” is going on when we view 42 women standing in line, not outside a pregnancy center, but an abortion mill. Where are the rescuers?

We always seem to be able to make the time to do this ministry, almost 23 years. As we close out one year and look forward to new beginnings, we have a great opportunity as God’s people in this coming new year to make a difference when it comes to abortion masquerading as birth control and health care in Granite City, Illinois. If you aren’t bothered at the thought, let alone the sight, of 42 people about to be killed, something is wrong. Very disturbing.

Keep speaking the truth, no matter the cost,
