Just another “killing business as usual” day in
Granite City
,
Illinois
as we made our daily trek through the grimy, deteriorating steel mills
and their washboard streets. Twelve mothers were already inside. “It’s
going to be a busy night,” we thought. We made several rounds
talking and offering free resources and other options to the mothers as
they pulled onto the lot and walked up to the abortion mill doors.
I was just catching my breath and re-arranging my literature in
my Bible, when a distraught looking woman appeared around the corner.
She looked at me and asked, “Are
you Angela?” My spirit thought, “Deep
breath ...here it comes,” thinking, “I’m
going to get socked.” I answered, “Yes.”
She then walked over to me in the alley and put her arm around me and
began weeping. I held her as she tearfully began sharing another
horrible injustice that continues to happen in
Granite City
.
Her 15-year-old underage daughter was forced to undergo an
abortion the day before without her knowledge or permission. The
mother-daughter covenant was broken as Hope abortion mill felt they were
better parents and stripped this mother “Tina”
of that relationship and assumed her role as guardian for three-four
hours the day before. The impregnator was an adult. He committed a crime
and no one inside Hope Clinic was about to enforce the mandatory
reporting law of sexual abuse. They were there to take the money and get
rid of the incriminating evidence.
We continued to listen and tried to comfort this mother. We
advised her of her legal options as she is the responsible party who is
paying this daughter’s bills and raising her, but we know the pathetic
history of law enforcement enforcing the law when it comes to Hope
Clinic. This abortion mill is a child sexual predator’s paradise as
they cover-up crimes against children. Recently, we helped catch a child
rapist from
Arkansas
who brought an underage girl to get rid of the incriminating evidence.
We exchanged information, prayed, and promised to keep in touch and
further help this broken family.
It’s a shame that parents’ rights continue to be lost in the
shuffle. Forget about whether you are pro-life or pro-choice, this
isn’t about abortion. How is it that a parent has no right in a major
medical decision which involves a serious invasive surgical procedure
upon her child?
As a former school nurse, we are not allowed to dispense a simple
aspirin without documentation on record and a phone call informing the
parents. A 15-year-old girl cannot receive emergency room treatment for
a broken bone or an animal bite until a parent authorizes it. She is
considered a minor. She cannot go to the mall and get her ears pierced
or embellished with a tattoo without her parent’s permission. She
can’t even sit and view an R-rated movie. But at any given day, here
in
Granite City
,
Illinois
she can walk inside the abortion mill and undergo an abortion, which can
have life-threatening complications, without her parent’s consent or
knowledge. Is it any wonder why children nowadays have no respect for
their parents?
The Illinois Parental Rights Law of 1995 needs to be implemented
and enforced. The statutory rape and mandatory reporting laws need to be
enforced. Children need to be protected.
Illinois
lawmakers need to restore the rights of parents so they have a say if
their daughter decides to have an abortion. Our society requires that
parents make other medical decisions for their children. Why should
abortion be an exception?
