4/6/2011- DAY 29
In today’s 40 Days for Life intention we pray for the grace to be strong when others ridicule or oppose us. To stand for what is right means those who love what is wrong will hate us, just as they hated Christ. Many, many times we have said that all those who love death hate God, Proverbs 8:36. It’s true. Literally, when you follow Jesus you have to be willing to take up your cross. It doesn’t feel good to be ridiculed or made fun of when you’re trying to save a life, but it happens. The insults are not being hurled at us maybe personally, but rather for the truth of what we stand for and at the demands of moral law. Why do so many of the abortion-minded mothers and their accomplices flip us off or call us crazy? To distract from the truth of what they are about to do. Just like today, many of those going inside the abortion mill hide their shame with laughter or vulgar hand gestures, but the truth still stands. Standing publicly for the cause of life, we have brought what is evil and vile out of the darkness; we have short-circuited that denial and frustrated those efforts to ignore the issue. Remember: to some, “Truth is hate to those who hate the truth.”

But thank God for those who do hear the truth and decide to turn back and come into the light. Today, Sarah was 7 weeks pregnant and came back out into our arms confirming she was keeping her baby. She accepted our literature and thanked us for being there. Later, another couple 12 weeks pregnant came back out and they, too, confirmed they were happy and keeping their baby. Just like I said years ago, “How many babies died because no one was there?” When fellow church people would ask, “Why do you go there?” I answered, “To save lives and to bring dignity to those being led to their slaughter; to let those babies know that they did not die alone…”

“Lord, I thank You for the grace of being actively pro-life and of standing strong when others may ridicule or oppose me. During this 40 Days campaign may Your peace fill my soul, especially when I may endure the opposition of others. May I become more like Your crucified and risen Son, Amen.” ~Angela
